Pride and Vanity: What’s the Difference? (Similar yet Different #158)
Pride refers to positive feelings about one’s own efforts and accomplishments, or those of one’s group. Vanity, on the other hand, refers to a self-centered attitude of trying to make oneself look bigger in front of others. Pride is accompanied by an inner sense of satisfaction, while vanity is excessively conscious of external evaluation.
